Protect Our Green Belt!

Protecting our precious green belt is a key issue for me, one I remain especially passionate about. So when in October, I had sight of the proposals outlined in the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework to develop 8,100 houses on Cheadle's precious green, I was shocked and angry.

I have always supported the principle of offering a structured parking scheme which encourages people to shop locally and boosts trade in our district centres makes abundant sense.

Update: The Healthier Together consultation has now finished and in July 2015 the decision was to award Stepping Hill Specialist Status.

Calling for Free Parking

Along with local Conservatives, Mary has been calling for the introduction of one hour's free parking in district centres to encourage people to shop locally and boost local trade.As many out of town shopping centres offer free parking to shoppers, parking charges are helping to drive people away from our local centres and small businesses.Free parking would boost local shopping and ensure more money remains within the local economy; supporting our businesses, creating new jobs and revitalising our town centres.
