Boost For Mental Health Services

I am delighted at the news of plans announced by the Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt MP, to recruit 21,000 new mental health staff in the NHS by 2021.

For too many years schools across our area have received less funding per pupil than the national average, and I have campaigned to end the historically unfair formula which placed Stockport in the lowest funded Local Authorities.

On Friday 7th July, local residents made their way to St Michaels Parish Church in Bramhall for some tea and scones at the Big Bramhall Tea Party.

Contaminated Blood Inquiry

I welcome the announcement by the Prime Minister that there will be a public inquiry into the contaminated blood scandal, which in the 1970s and 1980s saw thousands of people exposed to potentially fatal diseases after requiring blood transfusions.

Gatley Festival 2017

On Sunday I attended the Gatley Festival, where I enjoyed chatting to local residents, watching the parade, and helping the local Conservative Association with their tombola, which raised £150 for the Mayor’s Charity, which will benefit three local charities in Stockport.

Visit to Thales UK: Women In Engineering Day

Today I visited the Thales site in Cheadle to show my support for Women in Industry Day, which encourages girls to study subjects which could lead to a career in industries such as engineering, and highlights the role women play in the industry.
