A Better Deal for Schools

My vision for education in Cheadle is for all of our schools to be rated as good or outstanding. In Parliament I have spoken out in favour of fairer funding for our local schools here in Cheadle Constituency, which currently get less money per student than the national average and in support of more of our students taking up STEM subjects.

Effective Local Policing

I will continue to do all I can to support the Police and our communities which they work so hard to protect.

Investing in Roads and Railways

Local roads and paths are essential to keep Cheadle moving, so investing in these is a key part of my plan for our area. The Conservative Government is taking action to improve our roads by allocating £1.6bn of funding to Local Authorities to maintain the highways until 2021. This includes an additional £250m pot to tackle problem potholes.

Protecting Green Spaces

I am exceptionally proud of our countryside here in Cheadle, and I am determined to do my best to protect our greenbelt from inappropriate developments.

Protect Our Green Belt!

Protecting our precious green belt is a key issue for me, one I remain especially passionate about. So when in October, I had sight of the proposals outlined in the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework to develop 8,100 houses on Cheadle's precious green, I was shocked and angry.

Keep Gatley Junction Moving

As everyone is aware one of the objectives behind the SEMMMs A555 project was to reduce traffic levels on the A34 corridor.

Cheadle Village: Parking the Problem

I have always supported the principle of offering a structured parking scheme which encourages people to shop locally and boosts trade in our district centres makes abundant sense.

Specialist Stepping Hill

Update: The Healthier Together consultation has now finished and in July 2015 the decision was to award Stepping Hill Specialist Status.

Calling for Free Parking

Along with local Conservatives, Mary has been calling for the introduction of one hour's free parking in district centres to encourage people to shop locally and boost local trade. As many out of town shopping centres offer free parking to shoppers, parking charges are helping to drive people away from our local centres and small businesses.Free parking would boost local shopping and ensure more money remains within the local economy; supporting our businesses, creating new jobs and revitalising our town centres.

Campaigning for Safer Roads

Mary Robinson believes more Speed Indicator Devices would improve road safety near to schools and in residential areas across the constituency.
