2020 Exam Results

It’s a really difficult time for GCSE, A level and BTech students. Although 80% of A level students - higher than last year - have secured their first choice of University, it is disappointing and distressing for those who have been marked down by the Ofqual algorithm. Course caps are currently being examined by the Government. The Government has released a ‘next steps’ guide here.

There is of course no perfect replacement for exams, but I welcome the use of centre assessed grades that has been announced alongside the opportunity to choose between moderated predicted grades, mock results and taking an Autumn exam. If you have not received the results you had expected, your first port of call should be the University that you have firmed, and your insurance. There is also a huge number of courses on the UCAS clearing system which can be found here. This is also applicable if you exceed your offer.

Exam board Pearson announced it wouldre-grade BTechs in line with GCSEs and A-levels, resulting in delays.

The National Careers Service runs an Exam Results Helpline for students who want advice on their next steps, including appeals and autumn exams. The helpline is free and will be open from 12-28 August from 8 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week on 0800 100 900. Ofqual also run a helpline which is 0300 303 3344.
