It has been such a challenging year for young people, and with many young people out of face to face school and college because of the pandemic, it has been very difficult for them to take up extracurricular activities alongside friends.
I strongly welcome the news that Stockport Council has made the decision to keep Queensgate Primary School in its current location in Bramhall – instead of uprooting families and relocating the school to Woodford.
Queensgate is an outstanding primary school and a cornerstone of the local community here in Bramhall. But Plans to expand the primary school have resulted in the proposal to relocate the school in its entirety to a new site at Woodford.
Our environment is so important, and many of us have a renewed appreciation for where we live and our local green spaces after having to stay at home to protect public health.
I was pleased to hear that judges have quashed the conviction of 39 former sub-postmasters. This injustice has been ongoing for more than 20 years, with over 700 prosecutions based on false evidence. This judgement is a vindication of the sub-postmasters’ long fight.
Since the Conservatives first came into power in 2010, much has been done to protect women and girls. We have made both ‘coercive control’ and ‘upskirting’ offences, strengthened the ban on the ‘rough sex’ defence, outlawed non-fatal strangulation.
